    Ortho esters are very unstable it react with Lewis acid eliminated simple molecule like alcohol formed essters. the grignard reagents are very reactive towards electrophilic carbonyl carbon in ester again loose alcohol gives carbonyls there is a chance to again react excess of grignard in reaction with carbonyl give alcohols
