    yes, both are correct 1. alternating group An (n>4) is simple. 2. alternating group An is always a normal subgroup of symmetric group Sn.

    mam since every alternating group is normal subgroup of symmetric group and we know simple group is always normal so why for n≠4 it is not simple

    simple group is not normal..... simple group means " A group which has no proper normal subgroup is known as simple group"

    A4 has proper normal subgroup of order 6 so it is not simple
