    Mn2+ d5 electrons and NCS is strong field ligand so it has only one unpaired electrons. so calculate spin only magnetic moment using the formula √n(n+2) = √3 = 1.73.

    Since each isothiocyanate ligand has a single negative charge, the oxidation state of the manganese ion is +2. Since Mn(II) is d5, there are two possibilities for an octahedral complex. low-spin t2g5 with one unpaired electron, or high-spin t2g3 eg2, with five unpaired electrons. The observed magnetic moment of 6.06 BM is close to the spin-only value for five unpaired electrons, (5×7)^1/2=5.92 BM Therefore, this complex is high spin and has a t2g3 eg2 configuration.
