Strike is bidirectional , Dip is unidirectional. True dip direction is always perpendicular to strike direction. Apparent dip can have angle between 89- 0 with the strike. Apply right hand rule or clock wise method to know the dip direction if strike direction is given.

1. As you that strike direction is perpendicular to the true dip direction, the possible relation between those two can be expressed as: True dip direction = Strike direction + 90° 2. The relationship between true dip and apparent dip is expressed as: tan(apparent dip amount) = tan(true dip amount) × cos(angle between true dip direction and apparent dip direction)
