Pyq. .

For non linear & rigid DOF is 6 and 1 is vibrational so answer should be 7/2R by Cv=f/2R but it is given 4R how

    one vibration mode consist of two degree of freedom, one d.o.f for kinetic energy and one d.o.f for elastic potential energy... so if two mode of vibration is excited then d.o.f =4....

    It's something you need to add in your notes(just add one line). One Vibrational mode is equivalent to two degrees of freedom! i.e. when one mode is excited, it's both type of energy gets generated (Kinetic+potential energy), that's why two degrees of freedom. Similarly if Two vibrational modes are excited, four degrees of freedom will be generated. and so on.. solution attached.
