Maximum polarization is caused by the cation of small size and large charge. and Maximum polarization of that anion takes place which is large and has high negative charge. Therefore, we can say that amount of polarisation is directly proportional to the charge on anion and cations and it is inversely proportional to the size of cation and directly proportional to the size of anion! So, 16 - (C) For next question, isoelectronic means same number of electrons. Count the number of electrons of all the species given in option...CO2 has 22 electrons. 6 is coming from C and 8 from O.

For 17, A, B and C are correct. Count the numbers of electrons first.

sir can u pz explain question 16 option a i failed to understand that line

    eduncle-logo-app

minimum polarisation will be brought upon by the cation of large radius.

    eduncle-logo-app

Small radius means small size of the cation, Shib! and small sized cation causes high polarization i.e distortion of anion's electron cloud.

got this shib....still any doubt in this then please ask😊🙏

    Q 16 option A, B ,D is correct

    eduncle-logo-app

    Q 17 option A, B,C is correct. CO2 has 22 eletron & these options also has 22 eletron

In question do you need solution

    ques 16...option a,b and d are incorrect

    eduncle-logo-app

maximum polarisation is brought by cation of higher charge

    eduncle-logo-app

    Any doubt shib??

    eduncle-logo-app

sir can u pz explain incorrect options🙏

    eduncle-logo-app

    yes shib why not...wait..

    eduncle-logo-app

have you read fajans rule shib??

    eduncle-logo-app

https://byjus.com/jee/fajans-rule/ read this...you understand the concept of polarization

    eduncle-logo-app

yes sir i readed fajans rule

    eduncle-logo-app

Then you easily explain this...that smaller cations and higher charge cations distorts the electron cloud of negatively charged ion...due to this...covalent character comes in ionic compound

    eduncle-logo-app

sir can u pz explain option a i don't understand what is say

    eduncle-logo-app

minimum polarisation is brought out by cation of large radius...it is given low radius

    eduncle-logo-app

    got shib??

    eduncle-logo-app

atleast please accept the answer shib😊🙏
