Q No-2: (a) Develop an expression for the de Broglie wavelength of a particle in terms of its K.E. and rest mass. Q No-2: (b) Differenciate between different types of X-rays on the basis of their source spectrum etc. Q No-2: (c) If the wavelength of the first line of Lyman series of hydrogen is 1215 angstrom find the wavelength of second line of Lyman series.

    Here is the detailed solution of 1 and 3 in image and 2 is given below Q2. X-rays are commonly produced in X-ray tubes by accelerating electrons through a potential difference (a voltage drop) and directing them onto a target material (i.e. tungsten). A computed tomography (CT) scanner is a particular type of X-ray machine in which the X-ray tube produces a beam in the shape of a fan and moves around the patient in a circle. The X-rays are detected electronically. X-rays can also be produced by a synchrotron. A synchrotron is a device that accelerates electrons in an evacuated ring (often several tens of metres in diameter), steering them with magnets.
