Q24.18 A parallel-plate capacitoor is connected to a power plates. (a) If a sheet of dielectric is then slid between the pla between the supply that maintains a fixed potential difference heto difference what happens to (1) the electric field between the plates. Gi magnitude of charge on each plate, and (111) the energy stored in the capacitor? (b) Now suppose that before the dielectric is inserted, the charged capacitor is disconnected from the power supply. In this case, what happens to (1) the electric field be tween the plates, (ii) the magnitude of charge on each plate, and (111) the energy stored in the capacitor? Explain any differenc between the two situations.
