    Option (b) is correct. The states are degenerated and symmetric in the sense, energy value is same for both states and if you plot wave functions(which you can't plot on paper because it is 3-D plot) using computer simulation , that is same too, see attachment. Wishes

    graphs in particle in one D box are alternative symmetric. so here we can say (4,4) is not symmetric

    here the box is said to be 2 D with sides L and 2 L. how does this change symmetry?

    dear things will change if this would symmetric box like -L to +L but here this is not the case si we will treat this as normal box
