In the given figure the formula for delta O-18 is given. Foraminifera are very small sea organisms that create CaCo3 shells to protect themshelves. When they make their shells, they incorporate oxygen from the ocean, which contain both 16O and 18O, and as a result, we can use their shells to obtain delta-O-18 values and ocean temperature at the time of the shell's creation. During glaciation oceanic water is enriched in 18O because 16O water are being stored as glacial ice. So during Glacial time delta-O-18 increases.
