how to use formula here that i couldn't understand??

    eduncle-logo-app

equal pairs cancelling out on either side of North i understood.

    eduncle-logo-app

here I am in general showing the formula if they are not cancelling so simply put the formula to get the answer

    eduncle-logo-app

the formula part is useless in this case.

can i do in this way to the right of N positive to the left negative.so N10°=+10,N 355°=360-355=5°,since it is to left of north so -5°.likewise all will be added.

    eduncle-logo-app

Yes, that can also be done.

    eduncle-logo-app

and sir lastly do i have to divide mean palaeocurrent direction by 10.??in my process as i said above.

    eduncle-logo-app

Yes, obviously. You have to divide the final outcome by 10, because you are taking 10 paleocurrent data in consideration and in order to get the mean direction you should divide by 10.

    eduncle-logo-app

    ok sir

    eduncle-logo-app

sir u have added 10+360,15+360 why

    eduncle-logo-app

Because I have considered all values after 360. You can take N350 as N(-10) if you are taking reference as N0. If you are taking reference as N360 (as I have done), you can take N10 as N(360+10), N5 as N(360+5) and so on.

    eduncle-logo-app

    ok sir.i got it

    eduncle-logo-app

sir if in this instead of North ,there is south how to solve???east, west .explain with reference to above Question taking south

    eduncle-logo-app

how to choose reference in such cases?

    eduncle-logo-app

In that case even, you can take N0 as reference. For eg if the given data are N160, N170 & N180; you can simply calculate (160+170+180)/3 as answer. If you have any specific data, with which you are facing difficulties then you can share that. I will let you know the solution.

    eduncle-logo-app

    ok sir

    eduncle-logo-app

but i dont have specific question.i was thinking how in this question.variety can be asked.

    eduncle-logo-app

then if it is N220,N250,N 190 how will it be?is it same 220+250+190/3??

    eduncle-logo-app

Yes, exactly. (220+250+190)/3 will be the answer

    eduncle-logo-app

    ok sir

    eduncle-logo-app

    thank u.

    eduncle-logo-app

but wat is the real concept behind this palaeocurrent measure direction?

    eduncle-logo-app

Paleocurrent is the direction of past flow direction. The direction of paleocurrent is not unique because low flow can modify the paleoflow structures (cross beds, ripples or parting lineations) a little, so you gather a set of data of paleocurrent from measuring the direction using the paleoflow indicators. In order to get a better idea about the paleoflow, you should take the mean value of all paleocurrent data.
