Rigity of plate is an essential condition for plate tectonics because aesthenosphere is fluid in nature so it convects and above that rigid lithosphere floats. So if we go back to history at proterozoic age OCEANIC ridge development started because that crust ( continental crust was thicker enough to fracture and move )

Answer (A) Rigidity of plates; Rigidity of lithospheric plate is essential condition for plate tectonics. Buoyancy of plate and fluid composition have no relavance with plate tectonics. Mantle convection current is responsible for plate movements; convection current in core has no relationship with plate tectonics.

You are talking about the buoyancy of crust. Tectonic plates are crust as well as part of upper mantle. The buoyancy difference of oceanic and continental crust isn't significant at plate level because the thickness of crust is around 35km whereas thickness of lithospheric plate is in the range of 100km.
