if plane is dipping 70 degree then pole must dip 20 degree in opposite direction as the plane dip direction...because plane and pole has a perpendicular relationship so if you imagine a traingle right angle then plane and pole has the angles whose summation should be also 90°.

Answer (C) 20 towards 045. Pole is defined as a line perpendicular to the bed. The dip direction of bed will be the direction (or bearing) of pole. (90 - dip amount of bed) will be the plunge of the pole. So the correct answer should be 20 towards 045

A minor change in the answer. It should be 20 towards 225. The bearing of pole will be directly opposite to that of the bedding plane because every structural features goes down into surface.

Pole bearing will be perpendicular to the strike direction (315) of the bed. Two possible direction perpendicular to 315 are 045 and 225. Now the bearing will be in the direction opposite to the dip direction of the bed so the bearing will be towards 225. Plunge amount of the pole will be (90-dip amount of bed)
