Question in the picture. sir i am not able to imagine this situation but i know both of this- plunging and dipping. 2. is plunging+ dip= 90°?

If the dip amount of a given plane is 60°, find the plunge of the pole to the given plane. Choose only ONE best answer. A B 30 C 60

    Yes, plunge of the pole + dip of plane = 90° Pole is always perpendicular to the plane. So if the dip of the plane is 60° then pole will be plunging by (90-60) = 30°. With increasing amount of the dip of the bed, the plunge of the pole will decrease and vice-versa. Plunge of the pole to a horizontal bed is 90° and plunge of the pole to a vertical bed is 0°.

    Trend/bearing of pole is always perpendicular to the strike of the bed.
