    keerthi...as you know ionisation energy is energy required to remove the most lossely bounded electron from the gaseous atom....also you know successive ionisation energy keep on increasing

    so 2nd IE=IE1+IE2

    as you know value of first IE is given...and directly value of 2nd IE is given from neutral atom M...so by subtracting from 2-1we get value of M+ to M2+ value
