The top layer and the bottom layer of a coal seam are exposed on a sloping ground towards WEST having a sloping gradient of 0.25 at 700 m and 500 m elevation respectively If the dip of the coal seam is 40 towards EAST, the vertical thickness of the coal seam is km. (Answer up to three Decimal)

    The vertical thickness is 872 m The true thickness is 668 m. Slope of area is 14 degree west.
