    Muscovite and quartz isn't a part of discontinuous series of Bowens reaction series. Only Olivine, Pyroxene, Amphibole and Biotite comes under discontinuous series.

    In dis-continuous series of Bowens reaction series, the replacement of Si by Al increases while going down. The extent of replacement of Si by Al, increases from Olivine --> Pyroxene --> Amphibole --> Biotite progressively.

    But if we see further down, the Al in muscovite is replaced by quartz. So why not B?
