Refer to Fig. TK 5.13. It shows the changes in the 300 state of a gas occupying 10 m at 3 K and pressure 10 Pa. The gas is initially compressed at constant volume so that its temperature adiabat increases to 300 K. It is then allowed to expand adiabatically till the original temperature is attained. This is followed by isothermal compression which restores the original volume.
