The tonnage factor provides the mechanism for the conversion from volume of ore to weight of ore. In the English system, the tonnage factor is normally expressed as cubic feet per ton of ore. In the metric system, the tonnage factor is the specific gravity of the ore. whereas in cutoff grade :- a grade below which it is not possible to mine profitably using current tecnology. (eg:- 5sq. km has a gold deposit i e tonnage and 1.5 ppm is cutoff grade for the mine . is it goes below that then using current tecnology it is not possible to mine profitably .)
