in which part of answer you have problem
c.o.m
because two mass are also stick so in this type of problem we have to calculate c.o.m because rod rod is freely moving and we have to conserve angular momentum about c.o.m
take the lower part of rod as y =0 ,and centre of rod =L/2 similarly we wrote the y coordinates of both mass at A and B
if c.o.m is shifted to other point then we have to calculate moment of inertia of system about that point and have to conserve angular momentum about that point .
√3/2 ..√3/2-1/2 from where we get this values
this app is not working many times
take lower point be y=0 ,distance of point B from y=0 is root3/2-1/2
root3/2 is mid point of rod ,and point b is 0.5m distance from rod
length of rod is given in the question and surely from question rod is not hitting at end point of rod because distance of point A and B each is 0.5m from centre
