    Answer- Water vapour (H2O). Water vapours are equivalent to gas. And steam is a term used for water vapour only. Water vapour shows significant variation from place to place and time to time in lower atmosphere.

    question:-The gas shows maximum variation inthe lower atmosphere is watervapour.  1..volatile substance is one that evaporates or sublimates at room temperature or below. Basically volatile is a property and gas is a phase. of course volatiles are in gaseous phase. 2..water is gaseous form vapour he yes. 3..Steam is also the same vapour form of water when boiled. yes
