Mural joints:- figure below These joints are common in granites and related plutonic rocks and some hypabyssal rocks. These joints appear in a three dimensional network, when more than two joints (joint sets) being mutually perpendicular to each other. The joints break the rock into separate somewhat cubical blocks like bricks. 2.In case of sheet joints this is produced when the overburden is removed by exhumation process. so sheet joints are formed due to vertical extension. Thickness is not a matter of cencern process is important.
