    sir ye second page main they have put negative sign before compression work done and positive before expansion why sir ? as I know in compression work is done on system so it would be positive and for expansion vice versa

    reversible expansion and compression both works will be same but sign will be different

    By convention, work is defined as the work on the system by its surroundings. If, for example, the system is compressed, then the work is positive and the internal energy of the system increases. Conversely, if the system expands, it does work on the surroundings and the internal energy of the system decreases.
