Sir,how to solve this que

Consider a Paleozoic sequence in which fossils either appears at the boundary of period or extinct at the boundary of period (for example: appear at the Cambrian boundary and disappear at the end of Ordovician). In such a sequence how many taxon range can be established

    YAA THATS CORRECT TOO ,,I THOUGHT THAT QUESTION IS ASKING FROM THE DIAGRAM ..BUT THEY ARE ASKING ABOUT THE POSSIBLE TAXON RANGE ZONE THEN IT WILL BE 7 C 2 = 21 APPLICATION OF COMBINATION.(MATH).MY APPROACH IS TOO CORRECT .A TAXON RANGE ZONE IS DEFINED BY TAXA ( ORGANISM/SPECIES ) APPERS AT BEGINNING OF BOUNDARY AND DISAPPEARED AT END OF A BOUNDAAY.
