    Uncomformity is a imaginary plane of a specific age Gap means that age is missing among that strata..how that happens if 1.deposition is not took place due to ocean basin exposed or regression . 2. if erosion took place so the material is missing so also age. so it's just an imaginary plane so has direction relationship. below is some examples

    Unconformity is just a plane of non-deposition. There is no directional property associated with unconformity. In case of fault, there is directional nature caused by movements of blocks relative to each other. In cross beds, dip direction of forest laminae give the direction of subsequent sedimentation. But there is no such property associated with the unconformity and hence considered as non-directional.
