This is due to ortho effect which is observe only in the case of benzoic acid(SIR effect) and aniline(SIP effect)

so that means it will be just more acidic than normal benzoic acid -m ,-I containing grp will be highly acidic that Ortho substituted??

    eduncle-logo-app

Any grp at ortho position increases acidity of benzoic acid

Example- both ortho methyl benzoic acid and ortho nitro benzoic acid is more acidic than benzoic acid....but if we compare ortho methyl benzoic acid and ortho nitro benzoic acid...then later is more acidic

When any group is present at ortho to carboxyl group in substituted benzoic acid then the acidic character of that compound becomes at least more than benzoic acid.
