zone is a set of crystal faces whose pairwise intersection line is parallel to a given lattice direction, called the zone axis. There are certain symbols in Crystallography, which you should take care of- 1. [100]- It indicates a direction i.e., zone axis parallel to Crystallographic axis "a" 2. {100}- It indicates form of a crystal i.e., a set of faces related by symmetry 3. (100)- It indicates miller indices i.e., a plane parallel to bc plane of Crystallography. (111)&,(010) are miller indices of two different planes. (111) is a plane having equal intercept on all three axis and (010) is a plane parallel to ac Crystallographic plane. [111]&[010] are the zone axis and indicating a direction.
