The statement means that there might be some environmental conditions in past that can not be understood by looking at present conditions. Those conditions were entirely different from present and there modern analogues is not possible.

Analogue means exact replica of some geological happening. Suppose we need to see dune formation in laboratory we will prepare an experiments and machines to see how it is taking place. and set variety of conditions to see all the possible modifications. So for all geologically formed features we can't have a modern analogue like magma has temeparature of greater than 3000°c we can't in lab reach that temperature. Nature has so many things we can't replicate in lab.

Okay. and sir i think this theory is not enough true as intensity of geological processes can't be same always(past and present or future). bcoz environment variation is continuously occuring

and modern analogue is an example of some process that is very much simillar.

ok. e.x now there is global warming which come in picture in these past decades. which impact our climate....and earth geological proces....toh past k environment ka rate change is different as compared to present.

    yaa

then it should be its drawback! ?

    eduncle-logo-app

We can't say it drawback nature always evolves to the best condition. we are destroying it. the carbon content in nature in archean time was very high now it's very less we are adding carbon to nature using so many equipments.

ok so we can consider it in ideal conditions.?

    yaa good question gurmeet

the previous condition were too necessary for all that process to occur and we can't get any alternative to those

that means the conditions or the environmental changes that occurred at that time were so influential that they can't be replaced by some modern alternatives
