In some organisms lacking glutaminyl-tRNA synthetase, Gln-tRNA is provided by misacylation of tRNA with glutamate by glutamyl-tRNA synthetase, followed by the conversion of tRNA-bound glutamate to glutamine by the enzyme Glu-tRNA amidotransferase.
