    in our mentor only two equation are given to find out velocity.

    STR is all about frames, first you need to identify the frame in which you are asked to find the velocity. then after identifying this frame, note down what are the given velocities, In most of the questions you atmost get in total 3 FRAMES, 1 FRAMES from where you have to find the velocity(your FRAME), 2nd FRAME which is moving with respect to your frame, and 3rd is the object or particles whose velocity you have to find from your frame. if you can identify this three frames then 90% of the problem is solved, rest is just putting values in the required formula( which you decide whether motion is 1-D, 2-D or 3-D). NOTE- MIND THE DIRECTION OF MOTION AND USE SIGN ACCORDINGLY. FOLLOW ROBERT RESNICK TO VENTURE INTO STR

    here note that question gave u the velocity of photon w.r t earth and spaceship.. sometimes u have to measure Velocity of photon in spaceship frame.. so formula remain same..
