    The faulting event must be younger than late Cretaceous because it is going across the rocks of that age. Now, Montana is a state in northwest part of North America and orogeny that occurred after late Cretaceous in that region is Laramide orogeny (40-70ma). So the fault must be associated with the same orogeny and faulting may have occurred somewhere around 40-70 mya.
