how you right area as 1/2 (P1+P2)(V2-V1) according to me it is not coming by taking V2 -V1 common??

I haven't posted a solution for this question, so I guess, I should reply to any comments too. But after looking at ruby's solution. You understood everything except the simple maths? Then it's your duty to do the maths again. It's 10th standard maths, I can see the results without a pen or paper. You should atleast get the desired results use pen paper. Or I would like to mention here, it is the standard formula for area of a Trapezoidal. It cannot be wrong.(otherwise the maths I have learnt till date from my childhood will be wrong!! Being your online instructor(virtual), I would like to clarify on one of my previous statement. We told you to ask more and more questions. But we haven't specified whom to ask! So here is the funda to get success in physics, ask questions to yourself atleast 3-4 times. then only ask others. This words might hurt you, but my intention is to suggest you for your well being. Regards.

    Should not*

area of figure is area of triangle + area of rectangle.. area of triangle is 1/2*(P1-P2) *(V2-V1) and area of rectangle is (V2-V1)*P2.. so when u sum these two to get area of curve is 1/2*(P1-P2)*(V2-V1)+(P2)*(V2-V1)=(V2-V1)*(P1-P2+2P2)*1/2=1/2*(P1+P2)*(V2-V1) .. hope now u get it...
