Time management is very much important in IIT JAM. The eduncle test series for IIT JAM Mathematical Statistics helped me a lot in this portion. I am very thankful to the test series I bought from eduncle.

Their kinetic energy after collision is zero while their kinetic energy before collision is m * v^2. So the loss of kinetic energy is m * v^2. Energy before collision= 2× ½ m v² = m v². Energy after collision=0. Change in energy = 0 - mv² = - mv². It is an inelastic collision, where the entire energy is dissipated in the car system of 2 cars. so may be option c is correct.
