USP-4, MCQ, 14th question

USP-4, MCQ, 14th question vertical component of impulse recieved is taken as zero. why? and why 's' is zero in the equation s=ut+½at² ?

    can you please tell me why h1 is added for calculating height of ball in girls hand? that is h2

    because general kinematics equation is X= Xₒ + ut + 1/2 gt² .. and ball is returning from point of impact which is at a height of h ₁ not from origin
