    I think you are confused due to the first line given in the solution.The first line is given just to show that you cannot apply the length contraction formula L=Lo(1-v2/C2) directly,when the rod is moving at an angle. You have asked that .... 1.why Ly'=Lo Sin60? Because from Lorentz transformation you can see only the coordinate parallel to the velocity of the reference frame is changed.The perpendicular components remain same.Since here the rod is considered to move along x axis,only the x coordinate will chane and length will contracted along x axis only. 2.Why not Ly'=0.6Lo Sin60 Because Lo is the proper length(measured by an observer present in a frame attached with the rod).Here 0.6Lo is not proper length.I have already told that it is just calculated to show you that you cannot apply the length contraction formula L=Lo(1-v2/C2) directly,when the rod is moving at an angle.
