    The falling wave is circularly polarized (the given equation is of circulars polarized), and the emerging wave is also circularly polarized with a phase difference of π. this thing happens in HALF WAVE PLATE. Regards.

    this is the half wave plate because here is the π phase difference between the waves so the option b is correct.
