What are proplyds?

what are proplyds?, book from eduncle has two definitions, one says that proplyds are stellar objects embedded in optically dense envolope, the other one says that it the protoplanetary disc itself I am confused what is the right answer

    Yes, it is basically what we discuss in case of protoplanetary disk or the disk consists of gas and dust that formed around or orbiting around the newly formed or young stars. If one consider what it consists of , then it has to be : Volatiles & Refractories. Volatiles: Evaporate rapidly even at low temperatures Refractories: Resist evaporation until a high temperature is reached(highest temperature celestial sphere) .
