    generally both LiAlH4 and NaBH4 reduce alkyl to give alkane. But in case of tertiary alkyl halide, LiAlH4. gives alkene while NaBH4 gives alkane

    LiAlH4 does E1 elimination for tertiary alkyl halide and with primary and secondary alkyl halide substitution occur and alkane forms and with NaBh4 hydride ion substitute the leaving group
