See this ...both EWG and EDG have a stabilising effect on a radical intermediate...This is called captodative effect

The captodative effect is the stabilization of radicals by a synergistic effect of an electron-withdrawing substituent and an electron-donating substituent.[

When EDGs and EWGs are near the radical center, the stability of the radical center increases.[1] The substituents can kinetically stabilize radical centers by preventing molecules and other radical centers from reacting with the center.[3] The substituents thermodynamically stabilize the center by delocalizing the radical ion via resonance.

These stabilization mechanisms lead to an enhanced rate for free-radical reactions

Both electron withdrawing and Electron donating groups increase the stability of free radical so it is known as captodative effect

    eduncle-logo-app

How can 2 groups act simultaneously sir ....

    eduncle-logo-app

you have to go in deep to understand this concept

    eduncle-logo-app

sir can u pls explain it properly how can it occur

    eduncle-logo-app

    wait..

    eduncle-logo-app

    ok sir

    eduncle-logo-app

    check it

    eduncle-logo-app

in both the case stability increase in case of free radical

    eduncle-logo-app

    got it??

    eduncle-logo-app

    no sir

    eduncle-logo-app

    wait I'm explaing

    eduncle-logo-app

    ok sir

    eduncle-logo-app

see this picture actually ERG donates 3e . 2 electron goes in low elergy level while 1 electron goes into high energy leve . so overe all potential energy of lower energy will be high.. that mean energy will decrease and stability increase

    eduncle-logo-app

same case in EWG. in this case free radical have only one e which is in low energy state so energy decrease and stability increase

    eduncle-logo-app

    got it?

    eduncle-logo-app

    no

    eduncle-logo-app

    no sir ..

    eduncle-logo-app

    okay Simum😊
