When you do the math, it comes out to be that the mass of a C-13 is 13.003355 amu. C-13 has a mass of 13.003355 amu. Once you do the math you come up with the average atomic mass for natural carbon to be 12.01 amu and the difference would be 0.993355amu

Both are same shweta. C-12 is isotopes of carbon

Carbon-13 has a mass of 13.003355 amu at 1.11% abundance. The average atomic mass for natural carbon to be 12.01 amu So the difference will be 13.003355-12.01 =0.993355 amu for the mass between them

both are same things. Since many elements have a number of isotopes, chemists use average atomic mass. On the periodic table the mass of carbon is reported as 12.011 amu. No single carbon atom has a mass of 12.011, but in a handful of C atoms the average mass of a carbon atom is 12.011. ... The mass of 12C is, of course, 12 amu.
