RMgX is an umpolung reagent. Here alkyl group have partial -ve charge ang Mg have partial +ve charge

reverse in the polarity is known as umpolung

    got it??

See Among S group it is lithium, Be,& Mg can form covalent bond as they have high polarizing power. R-Mg bond is covalent. But the bond will be polar due to Mg.

RMgX, Grignard Teagent, Where R= Alkyl or Aryl groups Mg metal insert in R-X bond, results metal donate electrons to the R group Mg in electrophilic nature, where as R is Nucleophilic in nature, Nucleophile.

nature of bond between r and mg is what

    eduncle-logo-app

    polar covalent

    eduncle-logo-app

In Grignard's reagent, bond between carbon and magnessium is polar covalent. As carbon is more electronegative, attracts shared pair from magnessium and acquires partial negative charge. And bond between magnessium and halogen is ionic.
