Well you might have seen various stratigraphic classification like chronostratigraphic, lithostratigraphic and all. These divisions are on the basis of formations and their related periods. Similarly, pedostratigraphy comprises two words -- Pedology + Stratigraphy. So clearly you can get the definition of the pedostratigraphy. Pedology is related to soil or soil horizons(regolith) and stratigraphy is related to description of rock successions and their interpretation in terms of a general time scale. Hope this will be easier to understand about the pedostratigraphy (study of soil horizons and pertaining to the age of burial and formation of various layers like layer A, B and other specific layers in a geological time frame)

Pedostratigraphy (soil-stratigraphy) can be defined as the study of the stratigraphical and spatial relationships and implications of surface and buried soils. It has emerged as a key means of interpreting palaeosols; records of metastability in landscapes when rates of erosion and accumulation are slow.
