Selfish DNA is a term for sequences of DNA that have two distinct properties: the DNA sequence spreads by forming additional copies of itself within the genome; and. it makes no specific contribution to the reproductive success of its host organism. (It may or may not have significant negative effects.) The C value paradox is that the amount of DNA in a haploid genome (the 1C value) does not seem to correspond strongly to the complexity of an organism, and 1C values can be extremely variable. Therefore, due to selfish DNA genes get mutated or altered by addition in between gene so it changes protein and gene composition.
