A situation may arise when the offices of both the President and the Vice-President fall vacant by reason of death, resignation, removal or otherwise.
Article 70 empowers the Parliament to make provisions for such contingencies. The Parliament has enacted the President (Discharge of Function) Act, 1969 to provide for such simultaneous vacancies.
