Planar structure simply means you can draw it in 2D plane.

Means without using wedge dash notation you can represent the molecule.

For example tetrahedral shape is 3D arrangement. In tetrahedral 2 bond is in plane & one is out of the plane & one is inside the plane. So you need wedge dash notation.

But in V-shape such as water we have two bond & two lone pair. So we have again tetrahedral geometry & but shape is angular. So you can represent both bond in one plane & 2 lone pair out & in of the plane. As lone pair shape me dikte nahi hai so water is a planar molecule

I hope you know the difference between shape & geometry of the molecule?

sir r u saying that we should see the shape not geometry

    Yes dear

    got this??

    eduncle-logo-app

    sir this is msq type

    eduncle-logo-app

    yes see I3-,XeF4 is planar

    eduncle-logo-app

    sir abd is the answer

    eduncle-logo-app

    shib H20 is V shaped...so you can imagine it in a plane...so a,b,and d

    eduncle-logo-app

then sir tell me how many shapes are planar

    eduncle-logo-app

    1st one I3- ,H20 and XeF4

    eduncle-logo-app

sir i m talking about how many shapes with steric no not on this question

    eduncle-logo-app

shib when you draw structure of any molecule using concept of VSEPR theory then you can imagine which is planar which is not

    eduncle-logo-app

sir i know that sq planar is planar ,linear is planar ,trigonal planar is planar now v shape is planar what about the tetrahedral ,sq,pyramidal, tbp ,octahedral pentagonal etc

    eduncle-logo-app

wait shib explaining you by figure
