    The Vice Chancellor shall be an eminent academic and shall be appointed by the Chancellor on the recommendation of a Search-cum-Selection Committee consisting of a nominee of the Government who shall be nominated in consultation with UGC, a nominee of the Chancellor and that of the Board of Management. The Committee shall be chaired by the nominee of the Board of Management.
    Deemed university is a status of getting self governance granted to high performing institutes and departments of various universities in India. As per the current statistics of Department of Higher Education, Government of India, there are more than 109 Deemed Universities in India today.
    A Deemed University enjoys the privileges of a private university like designing their own syllabus and course work. They also get the autonomy to set its own guidelines regarding admission and fees. Thus the Deemed Universities in India get the opportunities to develop their own unique course structure to prepare the students to enter into diverse fields after the completion of their study. Those Deemed Universities which continue to perform well eventually get the status of a full-fledged University.
