    There are several reasons behind it : Because of the low hydrogen to carbon ratio in aromatic compounds . The exceptional thermodynamic and chemical stability can be attributed to resonance. Resonance in a conjugated cyclic ring reduces the strain on the cyclic compound there imparting stability

    It’s mainly because of the following reasons:- 1.Aromatic compounds have all electrons paired whereas anti aromatic compounds have unpaired electrons which makes them unstable. 2.Aromatic compounds have high resonance which makes them more stable due to charge dispersal over the whole skeleton of the molecule 3.Anti Aromatic compounds are paramagnetic whereas aromatic are diamagnetic.
