Basalt is finer because when magma gets cooled it forms nucleation site around which a crystal developes but basalt is a volcanic rock so eruption takes place when magma is Highly hot so it take rapid cooling when contacted with atmosphere and so the nucleation sites are developed much rapidly but whole magma gets solidified before crystal development.

(B) Basalt formed from quick cooling of magma Both basalt and gabbro are of mafic composition however due to quick cooling of mafic magma basalt forms, and shows fine grained texture.
