Why mass of 1 l of h2 at stp is 0.089g ume of a gas. x mam ol odb mass of certain volume of the gas at s.t.p molecular mass 2

llsity Call UF LIl 8as, (3) To find the relationship between mass and volume of a gas. X Mam ol odb Mass of certain volume of the gas at S.T.P Molecular mass 2 x Vapour density = 2x Mass of same volume of H, at S.T.P. Mass of 1L of the gas at S.T.P. = 2x Mass of 1L of the gas at S.T.P. 0-089g 2x Mass of 1L of H, at S.T.P. 0-080 X Mass of IL of the gas at S.T.P = 22.4 x Mass of 1L of the gas at S 0-089 2 RMM Mau g Mass of 22-4 L of the gas at S.T.P Thus, 1 Ial to the molecular mass oj the gas express

At STP condition, we know that 22.4 litres is 1 mole. 1 mole weighs 2g of H2. So 1 litre is 1/22.4 moles of hydrogen gas. So the weight is 2/22.4 gm=0.089 gm

    1 mole of H2 molecules = 6.023 X 10 ^23 (H2 molecule)= 22.4 liters of volume of H2 gas 1 mole of H2 molecules = 1 mole of H atom +1 mole of H atom (because there are two atoms of hydrogen in hydrogen gas) 1 mole of H2 molecules = 1 mole of H atom +1 mole of H atom 1 mole of H2 molecules = 1g + 1g = 2g 22.4 liters of H2 gas = 2g 1 liter of H2 gas = 2/22.4 g 1 liter of H2 gas = 0.0893 g 1 liter volume of H2 gas contains 0.0893 g of H2 gas (in terms of mass) This is the reason for 0.0893 or 0.09 is taken as mass of H2
