IBPS PO Exam is conducted for the recruitment of Probationary Officers/ Management Trainees in Public Sector Banks.


Candidates who are willing to appear in the exam must satisfy the minimum IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria specified by the Organization. If a candidate does not meet the eligibility criteria, he/she will not be allowed to take the IBPS PO 2017 Exam.

IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria 2017



Candidates who wish to appear in IBPS PO Exam must fulfill all the aspects of IBPS PO Eligibility 2017.


IBPS PO Exam Eligibility is specified based on three aspects: Nationality, Age Limit, and Educational Qualification for Bank PO, which we are going to explain in following sections.



Age Limit


The minimum age for a candidate to give IBPS PO Exam is 20 years and maximum age is 30 years i.e. a candidate must be born on or after 02nd August 1987 but not later than 01st August 1997. IBPS PO Age limit is considered an important criterion for the selection of eligible candidates.

6 Persons affected by 1984 riots 5 Years





A candidate must be either –


A Citizen of India or


A Subject of Nepal or


A Subject of Bhutan or


A Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or


A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.



Educational Qualification for Bank PO


A candidate with a Graduation Degree in any branch/stream from a University recognized by the Govt. of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. The final result of their Graduation Degree must be declared on or before 05th September 2017.


In case a candidate is awarded with CGPA/OGPA, they must convert it into a percentage (nearest to 2 decimal places) and mention it in the application form. If a candidate has secured 59.99% marks, it will be treated as less than 60%.


Calculation of Percentage: The percentage marks shall be arrived at by dividing the total marks obtained by the candidate in all the subjects in all semester(s)/year(s) by aggregate maximum marks multiplied by 100. This will be applicable for those Universities also where Class / Grade is decided based on Honors marks only.


Note: There is no restriction on the number of attempts in IBPS PO Exam. A candidate can attempt the exam as many times as he wants, until he surpasses the IBPS PO Age Limit.

IBPS PO Eligibility 2017- Reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities



According to The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, Section 34, candidates with Benchmark Disabilities are eligible for reservation.


Categories mentioned under this Act are enlisted below:


Blindness and Low Vision.


Deaf and Hard of Hearing.


Locomotor disability including Cerebral Palsy. Leprosy cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack Victims and Muscular Dystrophy.


Autism, Intellectual Disability, Specific Learning Disability and Mental Illness.


Multiple Disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (a) to (d) including Deaf-Blindness in the posts identified for each disability.



Candidates must note that the allocation of these reserved categories will be as prescribed in “The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016” and as per the vacancies reported to IBPS by Participating Organizations.

Ques 3. Are B.Tech 4th year students eligible for the IBPS PO Exam?


Yes, candidates in their final year of their Graduation Degree are not eligible. Candidates must possess valid Mark-sheet / Degree Certificate of Graduation with percentage of marks obtained, while registering online.



Ques 4. Is a Partially deaf candidate (deaf by one ear) eligible for IBPS PO?


Yes, candidates who are partially deaf are eligible for IBPS PO 2017 Exam. Above we have mentioned the details regarding IBPS PO Exam Eligibility for candidates with Benchmark Disabilities.
